The National School of Nursing and Obstetrics molds its professionals with sound scientific, technical, and humanistic
knowledge to become essential agents of change within the culture of health and care, thus promoting and supporting the

The school is consolidated as the leader institution dedicated to the development of professional nursing and nursing research focused on the continuous improvement of individual and collective health conditions, while it advances the discipline through its graduate and specialization study programs. To keep the teaching personnel who are committed to the Bachelor in Nursing and Bachelor in Nursing and Obstetrics programs and who are capable of enabling teaching strategies in every space of the student´s development, thus fostering the formation of nursing professionals with a solid disciplinary, scientific, and humanistic knowledge, who can in turn positively impact the society.

Founded on the Organic Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and under the principles of autonomy and freedom of lecture, The National School of Nursing and Obstetrics has defined nursing as a social projection endeavor which, in a multi and inter-disciplinary manner, should address the health needs of society through its diverse integration, coordination, instrumentation, research, teaching, and administration functions scopes.

The National School of Nursing and Obstetrics, as part of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, through its Graduate Studies Division has the mission of fostering the disciplinary and professional advancement of Nursing, offering a sound formation with the highest quality in diverse areas of specialization, Masters and PhD programs. In order to accomplish these goals, specific policies have been started. The establishment and consolidation of the graduate studies is a priority task to advance Nursing in Mexico, and thus, the research activities and their results will be foundational in the academic life of this studies division
Objective: To form nursing specialists who, by interacting along with diverse multi-professional health teams, be capable of conducting high-quality practice to address the specialized nursing attention demands of the populations.
Presentation: The Unique Plan of Nursing Specializations is integrated by 13 specific study plans which correspond to the different nursing knowledge fields. Each of these plans is constituted by 10 academic activities – 5 per semester – which the students have to fulfill.
Presentation: The Masters in Nursing Program is created from the reflection on the national and international initiatives and policies related to the graduate studies, in particular those of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. The program is based on the analysis and recognition of the social needs arising from the demographical and epistemological transformations, and the increment of chronic conditions, infections, emerging diseases, the elevated maternal and child mortality rates, and many more present and future health challenges.
The Research Committee is defined as the collegiate organ which is plural and consultative, and integrated by internal and external institutional representatives with interest and commitment to the development of nursing research, who contribute with their experience and dedication to accomplish the institutional policies on research.
Study Nursing at distance, a flexible modality

The study plan of the Baccalaureate in Nursing is constituted by 41 subjects representing 391 credits which is 100%.
In the distance modality, the enrollment is carried out through revalidation/accreditation, which means that the University performs a Studies Assessment and revalidates as much as 40% of the studies taken in technical level. The student must complete the remaining credits. The program starts in the 5th semester with the following subjects:
Study Methodology: The baccalaureate in Nursing on-line is offered in a virtual learning environment, in other words, through the internet-mediated Moodle education platform. The on-line modality requires that students are responsible for their own learning, and establish working commitments and strategies to learn in an autonomous form.
Virtual platform: The baccalaureate is offered through the use of the Moodle educational platform, being this the main support of the contents, and where students and counselors interact, and carry out education activities. Students access this platform with regularity to accomplish their activities within the established times, favoring the process of distance learning. Also, there is a space where students and counselors can have direct contact with the system administrator so that they can solve their issues and problems. The platform is available 24 hours a day during all the semester, and therefore students can have access to all materials, forums, practices, evaluations, not interrupting their learning process.

The Division of Continuous Education is an area of the National School of Nursing and Obstetrics which has the commitment and responsibility to enhance the professional level through the offering of academic events where the professionals can upgrade, deepen, and acquire the professional knowledge and skills to be able to contribute to individual and collective health, addressing the care demands of society and the challenges of the health system.
